About Jasen Cummings
Jasen Cummings (He/They) is a transsexual artist, writer, advocate, and certified intimacy director based in New York City. Dedicated to using the art form as a tool for sociopolitical change and community, Jasen brings a compassionate and transformative approach to their work in the theatre industry.
Jasen graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts with concentrations in Theatre, Psychology, Political Science, and Gender & Sexuality Studies from Sarah Lawrence College in May 2024. There, he was in high demand as the preeminent student intimacy director and coordinator on campus. Since graduating, Jasen has continued his training and artistic practice while making his debut in the NYC indie theatre scene, and as of early 2026, Jasen is proud to be certified in the field of Intimacy Direction with IDC Professionals. Over the years, Jasen has also gained credits as a director, producer, actor, performance artist, consultant, and costume designer.
Most recent projects include Wong Side of Time with Epheverie Theatre Company for She NYC's Summer Theater Festival, the world premiere of Bottom Girls by Madison Raffield at the Chain Theater's One-Act Festival, Shakespeare in the Park's production of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, and Ape The Immortality with Foul Fiend Theatre Troupe.
As a lifelong mental health advocate and outspoken activist focusing on topics such as censorship, gun violence prevention, antifascism, and queer liberation, among many other causes, Jasen loves integrating activism and resistance into their artistic practices. Jasen is trained in Mental Health First Aid and is wholeheartedly dedicated to antiracist and equitable practices.
Currently seeking new opportunities in the theatre industry, Jasen is eager to contribute their skills and dedication to a team that values collaboration and vulnerable, honest storytelling.
